What we do
The Urgent Care Centre offers a service to men who have a Swindon GP, and are unable to pass urine. Being unable to pass urine is called Acute Retention of Urine.
This is relatively common in men and can be caused by enlargement of the prostate or an infection.
How we work
Our nurses assess patients to try to establish why the patient went into retention of urine and treat the underlying cause. Once
If the patient is then able to continue to pass urine they will be given an appointment with one of our GP’s and then referred to the Urologists at the Great Western Hospital.
How do I access this service?
Most patients are referred to the Acute Retention Service by their GP, though patients can also themselves to the service.
