What we do
SEQOL have a specialist team providing support to patients with Fibromyalgia, through the AWP ‘Managing Fibromyalgia Course’ (www.lift.awp.nhs.uk).
How we work
Fibromyalgia can be a confusing and difficult diagnosis for people to understand.
This course aims to help people understand more about it, including the things that can make it worse.
It focuses on helping people to learn and use techniques that can better manage it.
This course is run by members of the psychology service and there is usually some input from a physiotherapist.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding Fibromyalgia and its impact
- Prioritizing, Planning and Pacing activities
- Managing expectations
- The role of grading exercise and stretches
- Dealing with difficult thoughts
This is a taught course, run in a group format, so although there will be some group discussion it is up to you how much or how little you choose to take part.
This course will run for five sessions on a Thursday morning usually between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.
Will I be charged?
You will not be charged as this is a Free course.
